Greetings,
Welcome to the website of the Faculty of Psychology & Education, University of Tehran. In this faculty, I along with my respected Associate Deans and all graceful colleagues try to provide a desirable environment for advanced increasing knowledge of students in B.A, M.A and PhD levels. Our main objective is to train capable, creative, searching and obligor students in Psychology and Education area. It is expected that our graduate students be more successful in educational domains such as teaching educational/research courses, activities related to educational centers management, presenting instruction methods and providing psychological and counseling services.
Faculty of Education began to work in 1344. At first, in addition to teacher training program, this faculty was in charge of teaching the programs such as training educational issues and instruction methods, which was performed at the department of Philosophy and Education at the Faculty of Literature. Since 1348 the faculty limited its activity just to psychology and education. The faculty has now 7 educational departments, all of which register students in B.A, M.A and PhD degrees.
Educational departments are as follows:
1- Department of Psychology
2- Department of Philosophical & Social Foundations of Education
3- Department of Educational Administration and Planning
4- Department of Psychology & Education of Exceptional Children
5- Department of Educational Psychology & Counseling
6- Department of Curriculum Development & Instruction Methods
Educational objectives include:
1- Promoting the faculty status in national and international levels as one of the psychological and educational poles
2- Achieving short-term, mid-term and long-term objectives of development perspective document of universities and our country related to faculty missions
3- Enhancing and controlling educational quality through guiding and activating educational departments, constant measurement of departments' activities, applying modern instruction methods, investigating and constant exchange of ideas about educational problems of students
4- Providing a proper environment for scientific & spiritual training of students
5- Qualitative & quantitative development of the current programs of the faculty by means of regular reviewing of their courses as well as forming new interdisciplinary programs in order to meet our country's needs, creating an opportunity among departments and faculties for cooperation resulting in the implementation of interdisciplinary programs with respect to programs statistics plan at the University of Tehran
6- Increasing the quality of educational services through the best application of modern methods of informatics in order to save more time
7- Developing private educational courses in order to use the faculty scientific potentials to meet current needs of the society with emphasis to increase the effectiveness of university education with an approach to new scientific technology in psychology and education field
8- Promoting research place and providing proper opportunities for science production for the purpose of meeting the society's needs
Some Faculty facilities include:
_A computer site equipped with more than 200 computers for the use of the students, professors and staff
_ "kosar" hall used for holding lectures and scientific conferences with more than 350 people capacity
_ Audio-visual facilities for the classrooms
_ A Counseling clinic for providing psychological and counseling services
The faculty laboratories include:
1- Measurement and Evaluation Lab (Department of Educational Psychology & Counseling)
2- Audio-visual Media Lab (Department of Curriculum Development& Instruction Methods)
3- Psychological Studies Lab (Department of Psychology)
4- Comparative- Cognitive Psychology Lab (Department of Psychology)
5- Psychometric Lab (The Institute of Psychology and Education)
Journals and publications include:
1- Journal of Applied Psychology (Scientific- Research)
2- News publication of the faculty public relations, titled as "khabarha va nazarha" (news and viewpoints), published quarterly
Also, the faculty of Psychology and Education has two well-equipped and independent libraries as follows:
_The faculty library, named after the holy name of "Martyr Daghayeghi", has been working since 1345. This library provides the sources needed for all educational programs
_ The Institute of Psychology and Education Library old-line, well-equipped, active and named after the holy name of "Martyr Jafari" is the most famous library in the field of psychology at the Middle East. This library provides only psychological books.
