Department of Psychology & Education of Exceptional Children

  The program of psychology & Education of Exceptional Children began to work in 1360 at B.A level at the faculty of Psychology and Education.

  Regarding the welcome of governmental organizations and private sections to the graduates of this program, the increasing scientific improvement and progress in the fields of growth psychology, intelligence, child mental pathology, methods of children assessment and evaluation, rehabilitation methods, special education and the diagnosis and intervention age reduction throughout the world, it was considered necessary to found an independent department which trains students in graduate level in addition to undergraduate level. Therefore in 1384 the Department of Psychology & Education of Exceptional Children was added to the organizational chart of the faculty.

 Now many graduates of this department work as professors in public or private universities throughout the country. Moreover they work in exceptional education organizations, welfare centers, day/night time rehabilitation centers by means of giving services related to evaluation and assessment in different fields of child development, rehabilitation and special education. Since the foundation of Consulting and Psychology Order Organization of the I.R.I, the program of Psychology & Education of Exceptional Children is one of its active committee which deals with investigating & issuing work permission to M.A and Ph.D. graduates of this program in order to provide a better opportunity for their employment. These graduates can diagnose disorders, incapability and problems of children and adolescents in cognitive, communicative, social, emotional and motor fields. While assessing and diagnosing disorders and determining special psychological and educational needs of children & adolescents, they assist families and children by presenting consultative, rehabilitation and educational services.

The members of the department always have had effective connection with scientific associations and research publications including "the scientific association of Iran's exceptional children" as well as "Research quarterly in the field of exceptional children". Currently the department accepts students through university entrance exam along with special in laws such as Ministry of science bursaries in B.A, M.A and Ph.D. level.
